As
you begin to master Quark XPress you will begin to see
infinite possibilities for your particular documents.
This exercise is meant to help you begin to make informed
decisions regarding design from the beginning of your
desktop publishing career.
Students review a minimum of four designs using what they
have learned about design from the Internet field trips
outlined throughout the website and the weekly handouts.
Students
must select a variety of materials (brochures, posters,
two-folds), where two designs represent good design and
two designs represent bad design. These designs must be
included with their written evaluation.
The
written evaluation MUST BE COMPLETED USING QUARK. Please
try to apply what you have learned up to now in your written
evaluation.

The
designs and written evaluation should discuss the designs
strengths, weakness, and areas for improvement. Give your
opinion of the design. What makes it a good or bad design?
What is the primary message that this piece is trying
to convey? What would you change if you were the designer?
Why? These are all questions to be answered in your design
review.
Students
are expected to hand in their printed as well as an electronic
copy of the evaluation along with the four designs that
they are reviewing. All supporting fonts, pictures etc
should
accompany the electronic file, if necessary.
